Gran Bahia Ambar

I had the pleasure of staying at the Gran Bahia Ambar in June of 2008. The Ambar is the adult only section of the Gran Bahia Principe Complex with exchange privileges to the Gran Bahia Punta Cana and Gran Bahia Bavarro sides. They, however, cannot use the facilities on the Ambar side. The Ambar offers a little over 500 Jr Suites all located in 3 story villas. Each room has either a king or 2 full size "pillow top" beds and an amazing bathroom with a separate jacuzzi tub and shower. The rooms also offer all the amenities you can imagine including a plasma Sat-TV, minibar, roomservice, and a private safe.

The Ambar has its own large pool with a swim up bar. The beach is just a skip away with plenty of beach chairs available in the shade and the sun. There is also a bar at the beach. I would have to say the only down side was there was no bar service at the beach.

The Ambar offers its own lobby and lobby bar, with internet access (however, at this point they only had 2 public computers). They also have their own full buffet serving breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a beachside cafe that served lunch. On the Ambar side they also have 3 ala carte restaurants that do require reservations (and long pants for men!!) You are also able to eat at the other restaurants within the complex, as well as enjoy the entertainment, shopping area, and casino.
