(FNA Wyndham Rose Hall Beach Resort) April 2009
Approximately 15 minutes from Sangsters International Airport, and after a fairly extensive renovation, this resort offers a contemporary upscale decor that is unique, tropical and tastefully done.
The resorts setting is on pristine oceanfront property of a former 18th century sugar plantation, and offers both all inclusive and hotel only (EP) plans.
Home of the Sugar Mill Falls Water Park it hosts one of the Caribbeans largest water parks. Cascading waterfalls, a 280 foot slide, floating down the lazy river in an inner tube, lounging on a cushioned lounge chair under a cabana or umbrella, visiting the swim up bar, one of the jacuzzi tubs nestled throughout the park, or the jungle garden that includes a suspended bridge, it’s a popular spot for guests of all ages. Daytime activities also include an extensive Kids Club, a loaded Teen Room, organized activities by the entertainment team, motorized (@ an add'l fee) and non motorized water sports (included), beach volley ball courts, and (6) lighted tennis courts where a house pro also offers lessons & rental equipment.
Babysitting services are available at an additional fee. Currently, that structure is $8.00 an hour for 2 children, $10.00 an hr for 3, and after 11:00 p.m. it increases to $10.00 an hour for 2 children, and $13.00 an hr for 3 children.
In their contemporary design, the rooms are comfortable with thoughtful details - including hurricane proof patio doors as they over look the 400 acre grounds.
Although the Resort View room category is their lowest category, it offers guests a beautifully decorated, spacious 370 sq ft of space, luxury bedding, private balconies overlooking the gardens or golf course, high speed internet access, coffee/tea maker center, and the normal amenities.
On the upper scale of accommodations, the suites offer guests 1100 sq ft of a luxurious haven to include a private balcony, master bedroom, parlor with bathroom, full size dining area, pantry with refrigerator and bar, and of course the luxurious bedding and other up scale amenities.
The resort is very popular for golfers for their onsite Robert Von Hagge designed championship course.
The new full service Soothe Spa offers a lengthy menu of pampering options to choose from in beautiful surroundings.
Dining options are plentiful to include nine restaurants, bars & grills. From casual buffet style to outdoor fine dining options, that partially include Northern Italian, International cuisine and a sea side grill. Since pleasing the palate, variety and quality is a priority they serve specialty beef products shipped from the USA to offer guests prime quality. (Some restaurants require reservations and include a dress code)
Weddings and Social Events are popular and frequently held on the various grounds and meeting room options on property. Profession coordinators assist you in finalizing every detail of your event.
Although I have stayed on this property numerous times prior to the recent renovation, I was impressed with the new look and changes of the resort. I’m looking very forward to the opportunity for an extended stay now that the renovation has been completed!
This property offers a good value with its up scale environment and price structure. I highly recommend this property be considered for groups hosting a special event, or couples and families looking for a unique Caribbean vacation experience.
